When it comes to dancing I have white people syndrome; rhythm is something that I have yet to master. Something tells me though that I am not missing out on too much...I look around at people my age at clubs and think to myself "my god, are they dancing or do they need to get a room"?
Example: I was at a formal recently where I thought I just might have walked into the wrong kind of party if you know what I mean. People were up against walls and doing the "booty grind" on steroids. It was intense to say the least. I looked at my date and put it to him simply, "I can't/will not do that." Not only because I have no rhythm but because I did not want to be added to the list of trashy girls at the party. Now I don't want to sound like a goody too-shoes BUT literally what would their parents think!?!?! Its like dancing is now an excuse to be as inappropriate with your date as possible...I'll pass, thanks.
If dancing were like it were in the "old" days, my story might be different. I mean I can rock the white girl point, the shopping cart, and I've been known to do a great mashed potato. But if I were to pull out these moves at a club in dallas, I might as well give up on talking to anybody of the opposite sex for that night.
So for now I will continue to keep my moves under lock and key, but one day I will bust them out and you best know that I will show up all those booty grinders...I just need more people to join my side :p!
